OUR POLICY
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Our commitment to building a team and products that reflect the communities we serve.
Our Commitment
myDeen Education Limited is committed to fostering a workplace and creating products that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. As a Canadian corporation publishing faith-based educational content for children, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are not separate from our mission, they are central to it.
We believe that every child deserves to see themselves represented in the educational materials they use. This belief shapes how we build our team, create our content, and engage with families across more than 30 countries.
Our Team
Our leadership and workforce reflect the equity-deserving communities we serve:
- Our executive team includes members from racialized communities, bringing firsthand understanding of the families who rely on our publications.
- Our Editor-in-Chief, a woman and co-founder, leads a creative team of three professional graphic designers, all women, who design our magazines, worksheets, and educational materials.
- Our contributors, authors, and contract workers represent a range of cultural backgrounds, lived experiences, and professional expertise.
We are proud that our corporation is led by, staffed by, and built for equity-deserving communities.
Our Practices
Hiring and Contracting
We actively seek team members and contractors from equity-deserving communities, including racialized persons, women, and members of faith-based communities. We evaluate candidates based on skills, experience, and alignment with our educational mission; not on background, gender, or country of origin.
Content Creation
Our magazines and educational materials are designed to be inclusive, age-appropriate, and culturally affirming for children ages 3 to 12. We develop content that respects the diversity within the global faith-based community, representing a range of cultures, languages, and
traditions.
Accessible and Affordable Education
We are committed to making quality faith-based education accessible to families regardless of geographic location. Our subscriber base spans more than 30 countries, and we continuously work to keep our products affordable and available to underserved communities.
Respectful Workplace
We maintain a respectful workplace free from harassment, discrimination, and bias. All team members, whether salaried or contracted, are expected to treat colleagues, partners, and community members with dignity and respect. Our Respectful Workplace Policy is signed and upheld by our leadership.
Community Engagement
We actively engage with the communities we serve through social media, direct communication, and feedback channels. Our CEO maintains a direct relationship with our audience through educational content on Instagram and YouTube, ensuring that the voices and needs of families shape the direction of our products.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not a one-time policy, they are an ongoing practice. As myDeen Education Limited grows, we will continue to:
Prioritize hiring from equity-deserving communities
Ensure our content reflects the diversity of the families we serve
Seek feedback from our community to improve our practices
Review and update this policy as our team and operations evolve
